Robber steals money raised for child’s operation

On February twenty-third she appeared on this newscast seeking assistance in connection with an emergency operation desperately needed by her baby … and the public responded generously. Today, however, Claudette Haylock reports that on Friday a hard-hearted robber handed her another setback. It seems that near the intersection of Church Street and Duck Lane a young dark skinned man around five foot five inches tall approached her, saying he wanted to contribute toward the baby’s operation. Instead of hauling out his wallet, he produced a handgun and relieved Haylock of just under sixteen hundred dollars. Haylock, who resides in Burrell Boom, told News Five that she did not report the theft to the police until this morning.
