Cops shoot attackers in Cayo, Belize City

The killing of Ever Morales is not the only anti police violence we have to report. Authorities tell News Five that this morning officers had to shoot twenty-two year old Oscar Videz in the ankle when he attacked them with a large knife. Police were called in response to a domestic dispute on Curl Thompson Street in which Videz had attacked his mother with a knife and was threatening to kill himself. Videz remains under guard at the K.H.M.H. where he is recovering from his wound.

Meanwhile on Sunday morning twenty-six year old Guatemalan Nolberto Recino was shot by police in the abdomen after he attacked a cop with a machete in Santa Elena, Cayo. According to police, Recino habitually exposes himself to women and children and on this occasion became violent when they attempted to arrest him. Recino is under guard at Western Regional Hospital. According to procedure, all shootings by police are the subject of official investigations.
