Convicted killer sentenced to life behind bars
A convicted murderer has been sentenced to life behind bars for the crime. In the courtroom of Justice Troadio Gonzalez, Edward Barahona stood with his attorney Lionel Welch to hear his fate. Welch was the only person present at the time to beg the judge to be lenient, telling the court that his client was not a bad person but something that day had set him off. After considering that plea, Justice Gonzalez maintained that he could not do anything but to sentence Barahona to life. The defendant’s eyes welled-up but he said nothing. Last June David Vasquez was gunned down at the Olympic Restaurant on Orange Street by a lone gunman. Following the shooting, Barahona turned himself into authorities in San Pedro.
