“We are Belize” released on DVD/CD
It was commissioned by the Prime Minister to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Belize’s Independence … and for three nights in September 2006, ninety-one musicians took to the stage at the Bliss performing thirteen pieces under the guidance of composer Frankie Reneau. Tickets sold like Saturday barbeque and the mammoth project received rave reviews. But if you were not fortunate to have been a part of the audience, the National Institute of Culture and History is now making it possible for you to experience the show in the comfort of your own home. Today NICH announced that is releasing a two-disc box set of the live performances.
Andy Palacio, Cultural Ambassador
“I believe that the music and the performances embodied in this piece of work is really, really worth having in one’s library and it should be seen by as many persons as possible. A lot of people were not able to make it to the Bliss to see the live performances, so now they will be able to relive the experience through DVD and CD at home, in their cars, and wherever they go.”
“This is a limited release, only two thousand copies were made and some of course have to be given to deserving persons, especially the artists and musicians themselves. They must get their copes and looking at the number of persons who were involved in the project, quite a few complimentary copies must be issued, so only a few will remain for sale.”
Kendra Griffith
“So your message to Belizeans would be hurry up and get them?”
Andy Palacio
“Hurry up and get them now.”
You can get your copy of “We are Belize” from the various offices of NICH at a cost of fifty dollars. The production of the DVD was made possible with the support of the Taiwanese Embassy.
