Punta artist marks 30 year career with concert
This weekend Dangriga, also known as the Punta capital of the country, will be the venue of a special tribute concert to local music legend, Chico Ramos. On Thursday the man himself stopped by our studios to explain that the occasion will celebrate his three decades of artistic expression.

“This weekend will be the lifetime achievement award and the crowning of the Godfather, that’s me. And on Saturday the twenty-fourth it’s the birthday bash at the New Riviera, and on Sunday, I will be celebrating my thirtieth year in the music, so I’m going to sing thirty songs for you guys. I’m going to do some of your favourite songs and if I forget, you can request the song that you like right in front of the Education Centre, Sunday the twenty-fifth.”
“We have guests coming in from Belize City; we have musicians coming in from Punta Gorda, Coolie Rebels, Leila Vernon, Sam Hamilton, Adele Ramos. We have a whole entourage coming in. This is a good, good feeling because you are going to get a chance to see Punta played with the live drums, live trap set.”
“I feel very good, this career take me all over the world, I travel all over the world except for Asia and Africa. All over this career take me. I feel so happy. I can’t believe it sometimes. I think it’s going to be a very, very nice weekend, I just want everybody to come down and see history Punta artist main the making.”
The venues for three-day event are the Y-Not Island, the New Riviera Night Club, and in front of the Education Centre in Dangriga.
