Late news: woman dead in W. Hwy. crash
In related news, around seven on Wednesday night san Ignacio police were at another accident scene between miles sixty-seven and sixty-eight. At the crash site, authorities observed a blue Toyota Four Runner that had damage to the front of the vehicle and a red Isuzu pickup off the road with its four wheels in the air.
According to police, investigations reveal that the Toyota’s driver, thirty year old Harrim Perez of Duck Run Village, collided into the Isuzu which caused its driver, twenty-six year old Edgar Tuyud, to lose control and the truck ran off the road and overturned. Tuyud, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and received severe head and body injuries. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Police have detained Harrim Perez pending charges.
Details are sketchy, but News Five understands a woman died late this evening following a traffic accident that occurred sometime before six on the Western Highway. According to media reports the unidentified woman was driving her car towards Belize City, but upon reaching Cotton Tree Village she overtook a bus and apparently ran into a truck that was towing a vehicle in the opposite direction. The woman apparently died on the spot, while her passenger was rushed in a critical condition to Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan.
