Car washer charged with robbery of a fellow washer
An armed robbery in the downtown area has resulted in the arrest of a Belize City car washer. According to court reports, this morning thirty-five year old Andrew August was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and use of deadly means of harm. He appeared before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers today where he pled not guilty, was released on bail of five thousand dollars and ordered to return to court on March twentieth. August was detained by police following the report of Ernest McNab, another car washer, who is claiming that last Friday, August and another man attacked him. According to the victim, he was hit in the head with a hammer, his hands were held behind, and then August stole thirty-five dollars from his pockets. McNab is also alleging that following the incident, August stabbed him in the leg before running off.
