Painters rewarded for helping robbery victim
Earlier in this newscast you listened to the victims of robberies complain of been violated but this next story is about two men who actually came to the rescue of two tourists who were attacked. The men who did not wish to appear on camera were working at the Fort George Hotel when they were heard a woman screaming for help. According to general manager Jim Scott, the good Samaritans immediately jumped into action.
Jim Scott, General Manager, Radisson Fort George
“Friday evening there were two tourist that were assaulted between the Tourism Village and the Fort George and two of our painters heard the assault, the women screaming – they weren’t our guest but they were tourist in the area – and without hesitation, the two of them came off of their scaffolding and went in pursuit of the guy who was running off with their purse. And they went through the back alley, between here and the Tourism Village, and down the street, and over a fence through a couple yards, and these two gentlemen, who were just here doing some contract work for us, grabbed this, dragged him back here and our security guards cuffed him until the police came. And for that reason the Fort George would really like to recognise these guys because in a time when we need heroes, these guys are living proof that we do have heroes. You don’t have to be a leader to be a hero.”
“We know that it’s just a token but since it’s their last day, today, working here with us, we have a blue note for each of them, the two heroes, and we also have a little certificate for dinner for two. Knowing that two guys without hesitation, who with obvious risk went in pursuit – they obviously have loved ones, they have obviously been loved and they have loved ones – so they have a dinner for two, each; they could bring their significant other back here and dine with us.”
The men returned the stolen bag to the two tourists, who happened to be nuns, complete with all their money and travel documents.
