Police seek chain snatching suspect

Belize City police are tonight asking for the public’s help to capture a thief that has been targeting young women walking alone in the St. Martin De Porres area. Around two on Tuesday, the latest victim reported that she was holding her five month old baby in her arms when a man walked up to her and stole the two gold chains around her neck. The description she provided to police fits the profile supplied by another young woman who reported that in December she was robbed of her chain and cell phone in the same area. Subsequent investigations into both incidents have led officers to believe that the suspect resides somewhere on Jane Usher Boulevard. The thief is described as being of dark complexion, medium build, and is about five feet eight inches in height.
