1 man’s shove strong enough for 3 assault charges on cops
A part time boxer and construction worker, twenty-nine year old Harrison Smith is in trouble with the courts after he allegedly assaulted not one, but three police officers over the weekend. Reports are that on Sunday, Police Constables Steve Ferguson, Jefferson Dawson and Luis Cobarruvias approached Smith at the Commercial Center and he pushed Ferguson in the chest during a misunderstanding. He was arrested, but while he was being escorted to the Queen Street Police Station, PCs Dawson and Cobarruvias claim they were also assaulted by the boxer. In court today, Smith was represented by Attorney B.Q. Pitts and pleaded not guilty to three counts of aggravated assault against the officers. Magistrate Adolph Lucas granted bail of three thousand dollars and set Smith’s next court appearance for December seventh.
