O.W. students claim top honours in Nutrition Quiz
Today seven high schools from across the country faced some tough questions in the annual ADM Belize Mills Nutrition Quiz Competition Finals. At the end of five rounds of questioning, defending champs Stann Creek Ecumenical had garnered enough points for third place, San Pedro High School claimed second … and taking the top honours was Orange Walk Technical High. This afternoon the elated boys and girls told us the strategy behind the win.

Erika Goldson-McGregor, Nutrition Quiz Committee
“The objective of the quiz basically it to try and see how we could reach young people in trying to change their whole behaviour as it relates to lifestyle practices. We recognise that over the years—if you looked in our health statistics you will see that a lot of people are dying from complications from diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and we recognise that these are conditions that start very young in life and we feel that if we start with the young people in changing their attitudes towards dietary practices and exercise, we will be able to change that trend in the future.”
The top students received trophies, cash towards their tuitions, and school supplies.
