Teens accused of murder will now await coroner’s inquest
Two minors charged with a high profile 2005 murder have had their case sent down to Magistrate’s Court where a coroner’s inquest will determine if they will stand trial. The boys, at the time only thirteen years old, are accused of killing four year old Oscar Velasquez and hiding his body in an old refrigerator inside an abandoned house on Antelope Street extension. Velasquez’s decomposing body was found on February twenty-eighth, 2005 with his hands tied behind his back and an electric wire around his neck. No date has been set for the inquest and the two defendants, now age fifteen, remain on remand at Hattieville Prison.
