Police charge suspect for burglary at Douglas Hyde’s house
The home of the Police Department’s National Youth Program Coordinator, Douglas Hyde, was burglarized in September and police have now caught up with the suspected culprit. Today twenty-four year old Robert Young, a Mason of Freetown Sibun Street, was arraigned before Magistrate Adolph Lucas Junior for a single charge of Burglary. Young pleaded not guilty and when he was asked if this was his first offense, he admitted to Magistrate Lucas that he has previous convictions for theft and burglary. The court prosecutor, Sergeant Casimiro then objected to bail and Young was remanded until December twenty-eighth. Hyde’s house in the American New Site area of Hattieville was broken into on September nineteenth and a laptop, camera, cell phone and assorted jewelry were among the items stolen. The total value of the loss was seven thousand and twenty dollars.
