Two Orange Walk men arrested for weekend robberies
Police have charged two men believed to be the perpetrators of two separate robberies in Orange Walk. According to fifty four year old Druid Rosado, around eight on Friday night he was inside his store on Belize Corozal Road when two men armed with a gun walked in and demanded money. The bandits took three hundred and sixty five dollars and disappeared into the night. Then on Saturday night, thirty one year old businessman Aldo Cambranes was manning his counter when a man walked in and ordered cigarettes. Without warning the would-be customer pulled out a handgun and ordered the storeowner to hand over cash. Cambranes decided to put up a fight and managed to knock the gun out of his attacker’s hand before finding safety on the other side of the back door. Determined not to walk away empty handed, the gunman jumped over the counter and stole twenty nine dollars in cash. The storeowner tried to follow the thief on the street but the thief fired a shot in the air before jumping into a getaway car. The assailant didn’t get far however as quick police investigations have led to the arrest of twenty two year old Rodney Cardinez and eighteen year old Edwin Staine. Both men have been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.
