Fresh Catch Limited lands on the auction block
Fresh Catch Belize Limited is on the auction block. The modern tilapia farming operation went into receivership in July 2011. It was one of several assets belonging to the Mena Group of companies that was taken over by FirstCaribbean International Bank. The Mena’s managed to get back the Wood Depot but not Fresh Catch. The previous owners had turned to Social Security Board for an injection of fourteen million dollars and while it looked as if the loan would have been approved, Cabinet did not give its nod of approval, so the SSB blocked it at the last minute. The property on the Western Highway, covering six hundred acres of land including all the structures, will now be auctioned on December third.
