Third woman in two weeks killed by enraged lover

Of course it’s only a coincidence, but in the month following the highly publicised sixteen days of action against domestic violence, there have been no less than three murders of women by enraged husbands or boyfriends. The latest–and perhaps most brutal–occurred this morning in Belize City.

Twenty-eight year old Keisha Sutherland and twenty-nine year old Louie Ganzie Gentle had a nine year old relationship that family and friends described as stormy but no one believed that the union would have ended in murder. Sixty-three year old Gilda Johnson who lived with her now deceased granddaughter said she was asleep in an adjoining bedroom but was awakened by a noise. Gilda says by the time she made it out to the living room she saw Keisha lying in a pool of blood and Louie quickly leaving the house.
