Youths charged in Cayo murder

Four youths have been arrested in connection with a Christmas Day tragedy in San Ignacio that left one dead and two injured. Police have arrested and charged sixteen year old Kevin Santos for the murder of eighteen year old Chris Rosalez and twenty-one year old Kevin Diaz for the attempted murder of Kennylee Gonzalez who remains hospitalized in the Western Regional Hospital. Twenty-one year old Edwin Duran and eighteen year old Darren Lanza were also charged along with Santos and Diaz for the crime of Conspiracy to Commit Murder. All those arrested are residents of Santa Elena. The December twenty-fifth killing was the result of what police believe to be a long standing feud between rival gangs from different sides of the Macal River which divides the twin Cayo towns.
