Coke truck robbed in Ladyville
A Coca Cola truck driver was held up at gunpoint Wednesday and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash. According to a report from Bowen and Bowen Limited, at four thirty p.m. a driver and his sideman were making their usual sales rounds when they stopped at Perez Hardware at the corner of Woodpecker and Aracari Avenue in Ladyville. While the driver, Oscar Perez, was in the store preparing an invoice and his sideman, Keith Lopez, was outside removing goods from the truck, two dark-skinned men entered the store and pointed a gun at the clerk demanding money and telling everyone in the store not to move. After being directed to the main office, the robbers were unable to enter the room as the owner and another employee had locked themselves inside. The two gunmen immediately turned to the driver, placing the weapon to his head, and robbing him of the cash in his waist bag. After failing to enter the main office again and being informed by the owner that the police were on their way, the two men quickly walked out of the building. But it didn’t take long for the cops to arrive at the scene, and after a street chase, the men jumped into an SUV which headed down the Northern Highway. Police Mobile Patrols were unable to catch the robbers.
