Guard charged for shooting gas station customers
The police have charged a security guard for a shooting at Esso Ramon’s Service Station last Friday night. Ignacio Reyes, who was not in uniform, was charged with two counts of Grievous Harm late Monday. At twelve-ten a.m. on Saturday morning, Jose Gonzalez and Thomas Garcia attempted to purchase gasoline minutes after closing time. After making their request at the window, the station’s supervisor checked with her boss who told her the pumps would take too long to start up, so the men did not get to buy the fuel. The two Ladyville residents then walked across the gas station to their Mazda car in which a friend was waiting. The security guard exchanged words with the men as they passed by him and he followed them. The security cameras captured the incident and it shows that as they turned around, the accused shot Garcia and Gonzalez; both collapsed to the ground. Garcia called 911 and the ambulance arrived soon after. Esso Ramon’s Service Station said that the plain clothes guard worked for Omni Security and was not an employee of the station.
