Three sisters injured in Toledo hit & run
Three sisters are recovering from injuries resulting from a hit and run which took place Friday evening in the Dump Area of Punta Gorda. Twenty-one year old Martina Cal received severe head and body injuries and was later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition. Twelve year old Juana Cal received injuries to her legs and was later transferred to the Belmopan Hospital, while eight year old Agatha Cal suffered minor scrapes and bruises which were treated at the Punta Gorda Hospital. According to police reports, all three victims were knocked down by an Isuzu pickup while walking along the Southern Highway. The truck then sped off leaving them on the ground. Earlier that day, the vehicle was reported to have been seen parked at a neighbourhood bar. Punta Gorda police have since arrested and charged thirty-six year old Negaspro McKay with Failure to Report an Accident, Driving without Due Care and Attention and Failure to Stop and Render Aid. McKay could also be slapped with additional charges depending on the outcome of a urine analysis and medical reports on the victims.
