Alberto Allen found murdered at his home

Story PictureHe was acquitted of the murder almost two years ago and today twenty-two year old Alberto Allen is dead. Allen’s body was found around midday at this house off a dirt road across from Cisco Construction at mile three on the Western Highway. When we arrived at the scene the only door to the house was ajar. There are no stairs to the upper flat, access was via two pieces of wood nailed to wooden posts. Allen is believed to have used this to climb into the house. When we broke the news to one of Allen’s cousins at the morgue this afternoon she was understandably too shaken to say anything. The relative was there in response of an anonymous tip that a family member was killed.

The killing was gruesome and police told News Five that they intercepted a pair of teens in a grey Toyota Corolla that led them to the crime scene.

Clement Palacio, Police Press Officer
“This morning at about eleven forty-five police were on patrol on the Jane Usher Boulevard area where they intercepted a Corolla car. In the car was its drive, identified as one Warren Lewis and his passenger Cordel Flores. The vehicle was searched and upon the search they found a three-eighty pistol inside. The men were questioned and police were then led to and area at three and a half miles on the Western Highway and they found the lifeless body of one Albert Allen of 3652 Malcolm Street.”

Marion Ali
“I know that in 2007, Mr. Allen and another young man were acquitted for the murder of Mr. Bruce Cocom. Do police believe that his killing now was linked to Mr. Cocom’s murder.”

Clement Palacio
“Police will look at all leads during their investigation. Again, I wont comment as to the motive.”

Marion Ali
“The car that they were found in, whose is it?”

Clement Palacio
“That is a part of the ongoing investigation as well. I think that the investigators are checking with the Transport Department to see in whose name it is listed.”

Marion Ali
“The house from where Mr. Allen’s body was retrieved this morning, who lives there? Any information…”

Clement Palacio
“I have no information on the house. The body was found in some bushes off a feeder road so that is what we stand by.”

Marion Ali
“But you are not certain if he was killed there or just dumped there.”

Clement Palacio
“His body was found there and that is what we know and that is what we have released.”

Marion Ali
“Was there any weapons, any bullet casings, anything to suggest what type of weapon was used?”

Clement Palacio
“We can say that there were multiple stab wounds to various parts of the body. because of good taste, I won’t go into details as to where exactly, but he also had a bullet wound to the back.”

Both Warren Lewis and Cordel Flores will be charged with Allen’s murder on Wednesday morning. Police also would not say what they believe was the motive of the killing nor would they say what the relation was between the accused men and Allen. Police are not able at this point to determine whether the gun retrieved was the same used in the murder.

On September twelfth 2007, almost two years Allen and seventeen year old Alfred Tillett walked away free men for the murder of twenty five year old Bruce Cocom. Cocom was shot in the chest as he stood in front of a store on Central American Boulevard in Belize City. Since the charge was withdrawn against the two accused, Allen had lived a relatively quiet life but it is not known if the house where he was found was where he had been hiding out.
