Peace man chopped with his own machete
The New Year started with several violent incidents on January first, including a chopping in Biscayne Village that was almost fatal for forty-three year old Mark Davis. Tonight, Davis’ alleged attacker twenty-nine year old Doran Moody is behind bars; he was charged today with Attempted Murder, Use of Deadly Means of Harm and Grievous Harm with a Deadly Instrument. Davis was called to the home of his niece, Deshawn Swasey to quell an altercation between Moody, who is her common-law-husband and two other relatives. But Davis ended up being attacked and chopped with his own machete on the left hand, face and left ear, which was almost severed. According to Davis, if Moody’s bother did not intervene, he would have been killed. In court today, Moody was unrepresented and no plea was taken. He was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March eighteenth.
