Memorial unveiled for fallen pilots
On November eighteenth, 2005 pilot Rene Tam and his two U.S. passengers boarded the twin engine Islander “Sophia” en route to Blancaneaux Lodge in the Cayo District. They never arrived as the plane crashed in the Mountain Pine Ridge, killing all aboard. Today at the entrance of the municipal airstrip, ceremonies were held to dedicate a memorial not only for Tam, but all those pilots who never returned home.
