Lying witness receives three months for contempt
A witness booked for perjury has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. Twenty-six year old Frederick Arzu was ordered arrested after he was caught giving a false alibi at the trial of his friend and former cellmate Ernest Hinds. This time around Arzu thought twice before lying under oath and admitted to his bogus testimony. Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord must have been in a good mood as he used his discretion to find Arzu guilty, not of perjury, but for contempt of court and sentenced him to three months in prison. Hinds was previously convicted of Attempted Robbery and Use of Deadly Means of Harm.
