Stray bullet lodges in mother?s skull

While a mother mourns her son, tonight six children are at their mother’s bedside after the woman was shot in the head on Sunday night.

?That just goes to show that the streets of Belize City is not safe anymore. It just reinforces that fact.?

Fifty-five year old Cleopatra Tucker and her son Dejon Tucker had just left their house and were making their way across Kut Avenue when a stray way bullet hit the woman in the forehead.

?We were going to drop off a letter for a lady and as we stepped downstairs?if you look that way over the bridge there were some shooting going on over there. A bullet came all the way from over that bridge to this side and at the same time she was getting into the car, it just hit her just like that.?

An x ray later revealed that the bullet penetrated Tucker?s skull and lodged itself near her brain. The victim underwent surgery on Monday to remove the slug. As for where the bullet came from, investigators say shots were fired as far as a block away, at the corner of Kut Avenue and East Collet Canal. Tonight Tucker?s condition is described as stable.

?I believe she is still in a?I wouldn?t say a critical critical state but she is still in a state where she needs to be observed.?

Up to news time, no arrests had been made in connection to this incident.
