Rotary opens toys for tots campaign

Story PictureLast week, the Salvation Army of Belize launched its annual Kettle Appeal to help raise money to purchase toys for needy children. Today the Belize Rotary Club has also decided to get a head start on its drive to collect playthings for the less fortunate. Today we caught up with Rotarian Eddie Bouloy at one of the organization’s drop off outlets, Hofius Limited, to find out more about this year’s drive.

Eddie Bouloy, Rotarian
?Last year we started the first week of December and the response wasn?t as good as we would have hoped. We need to raise two thousand toys for the Salvation Army. We are starting early this year because the party is on the thirteenth of December but we need to have it wrapped up the first week of December, so by the seventh of December we need to have wrapped up these things. Therefore, we are asking everybody to come out early and donate to a worthy cause.?

?How does it work??

Eddie Bouloy
?We have drop off points. These are the drop off barrels and they are stationed in Hofius, Brodies, Save-U, A&R and Mirab. Brodies actually has two locations, here in Belize City and on the Northern Highway. We are asking you to drop off either new toys or used toys in very good condition that we can then prepare to give to the kids at the Salvation Army Christmas party. The Major Robateau is a driving force. He is also a Rotarian and we have to work along with him to make a tremendous success. It makes his job a lot easier and everyone that donates to this cause should walk away feeling very good about themselves.?
