Popper gambles away someone else’s money

Story PictureHis gambling habits landed him in court, but luck was on thirty-eight year old David Popper’s side today. Popper appeared before Magistrate Aretha Ford charged with the theft of more than one thousand four hundred dollars from Neville Samuels, a UNICEF employee. Popper pleaded guilty to the charge and was facing one year behind bars, but his clean record won him some leniency. He was instead fined a thousand dollars and if he defaults on payment, he will face jail time. On June twenty-sixth, Popper was given the money by Samuels to change into US currency. But when Samuels tried to collect his money two days later, Popper confessed that he gambled and lost all the money at the Princess Casino.
