Gladden pleads guilty to Queen Square chopping
Today thirty-six year old Kenroy Gladden appeared in the Supreme Court before Justice Troadio Gonzales where he pled guilty to the crime of grievous harm. Gladden, the 2001 winner of the Lionman Triathlon, was originally charged with attempted murder but Prosecutor Kamar Henry decided to accept the guilty plea to the lesser charge. The charges arose out of an incident on April fifteenth, 2005, when Gladden, known as “smoke”, attacked Queen Square Market vendor Santiago Reyes with a machete, wounding him in the head and hand. Gladden will be sentenced on Monday, following testimony for mitigation.
