Jealousy is motive in Teakettle Murder

Twenty-seven year old Henry Rodriguez had only relocated to Teakettle Village five days ago when police say he was stabbed in the chest and killed. Authorities say their investigation reveals that shortly after Rodriguez moved to the Cayo District he met and began dating a young lady from the village. Police say early Saturday morning he was visiting the woman at her house when her ex common-law husband, identified as twenty-seven year old Rupert Vanzie, came by the residence. There was an exchange of words between Vanzie and the female when it is reported that Vanzie forced himself into the house. Once inside the woman told police that Vanzie punched her and then started to beat on Rodriguez. That is when she saw Rodriguez stumble towards the door while clutching his chest and gasping heavily. Vanzie then turned on her with a knife in his hand and said “I should a stab you too,” … but instead he fled, leaving a terrified woman and a dying man. Rodriguez was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital where he passed away shortly after being admitted. It did not take long for Belmopan police to find Vanzie and charge him with Murder.
