Fisheries Ministry receives equipment donation
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has received over one hundred thousand dollars worth of equipment. The donation came courtesy of the Organisation of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector in Central America, OPESCA, and includes two vehicles, five computers, two G.P.S. devices, video and digital cameras, office furniture, and a boat. Receiving the items for Belize was Agriculture C.E.O. Sandra Hall, while Maximiliano Ruiz and Mario Recinos represented OPESCA. The equipment will aid the ministry’s efforts to better manage the nation’s freshwater fisheries, that is our numerous rivers and lagoons that are relied upon by many rural Belizeans for both food and income.
