F.C. Belize blows out Alpha of O.W., 8-0
Good evening. I?m James Adderley, and this is Sports Monday. The Regent Insurance Cup Tournament reaches its regular season conclusion over the weekend with the staging of the final three scheduled matches. So we headed north to the People?s Stadium on Saturday to view the clash between F.C. Belize and the home team Alpha of O.W.
Folks we?re in the opening minute of the ballgame when Tyrone Muschamp sets table for Jeremy Jones who botches the early scoring opportunity.
Two minutes later this outside bomb from Deon McCauly is mishandled by O.W. keeper–Tyrone Muschamp picks up the rebound for the easy put back to give the visitors a 1-zip lead.
In search for the second goal for the city team Norman Pipersburgh leads out Dean McCauly, but the keeper beats him to the pill.
And now we have to tell the Alpha defence: hey guys you?re making things too easy for F.C. Belize. Tilliman Nunez finds Deon McCauly and F.C. goes up 2-zip at the thirty-second minute.
It?s Norman Tilliman Nunez Pipersburgh again with good distribution and again he finds Deon McCauly, but this time the ball bounces off the crossbar. Alpha?s first highlight came off this spot kick from Jesus Lozano, but Charlie Slusher digs it out of danger.
People can you believe the goalkeeper Cleveland Lord fails to pick up this easy ball, well he does and Jeremy Jones makes him pay with the 3-zip F.C. Belize lead forty-one minutes in.
So we got to the second half and Alpha looks to strike off the set piece only to see the crossbar make the intervention.
F.C. Belize responds by going to Deon McCauly but his left foot launch ricochets off the far upright.
Hey people today the stakes are vying for the M.V.P. status as again they conspire to deny Deon McCauly his second goal of the match.
In the meantime, give Cleveland Lord in the O.W. goal maximum respect for the save as this screamer from big bad Tilliman Nunez certainly was fraught with danger.
At the other end it?s Deon McCauly on the move. Again the upright intervenes on his launch as the rebound rolls to Jeremy Jones who gets his second goal of the match to give F.C. Belize a 4-zip lead.
Now check this pass to himself by Norman Tilliman Nunez?more importantly check the screamer he unleashes as F.C. Belize takes a 5-zip lead.
It?s all F.C. Belize in this people as Deon McCauly displays his ball skills to embarrass the entire Alpha defence including the goalkeeper and make it a 6-nil lead.
And now it looks like goals are being given away at O.W. Pipersburgh finds Deon McCauly and he puts the ball on the left and just like that it?s a 7-nil ballgame.
Chalk up four big time goals to Deon McCauly who receives from Tilliman and he beats his man and the left foot makes it 8-nil, in favour of the city team. And indeed the regulation whistle brought an end to this onslaught as F.C. Belize bombs Alpha 8-zip.
In other action on the final day of regular season, Acros of Belize fell 7-3 to Hankook Verdes, so they finish without a win. While Wagiya crushed the Belmopan Bandits 5-1 at Dangriga. Thus Wagiya finishes atop the standings with twenty-four points, F.C. Belize has twenty, Verdes nineteen, Belmopan eleven, and these are the four teams making the play-offs. Alpha six and Acros take three.
The four team play-offs now gets underway this Sunday October twenty-ninth with two matches. Wagiya will host Belmopan at the Carl Ramos Stadium, while Hankook Verdes comes to the M.C.C. Grounds against F.C. Belize.
Turning to the basketball scene, the Punishers faced off against Reneau Blazers Friday night inside the Burrel Boom Basketball Competition. And its good ball movement by the Blazers who find Peter Hudson down-low for the automatic two.
On this trip down court the Blazers finds Peter McKeesy and he gets another triple for the Blazers.
At the other end, the Punishers go to David Jones and he goes backboard for two. He would lead the Punishers with twenty-two points which is the game high. Deon Brown then pulls up for three. He would lead the Blazers with twelve points.
Nevertheless, in the closing moments Punishers begin to pull away. The quarterback pass finds Kenrick Andrewin and makes the aerobatic delivery.
But here?s the from the Punishers, they catch the Blazers napping down low?it?s an easy two points for Peter McKeesy?the Punishers go on the post the 60 to 53 big w.
In the other match-up on that ticket Friday night B. Black Shatters mashed up Slaughterers 57 to 35, they were led by fifteen points from Kenny Humphreys.
In other basketball news, Saturday night?s schedule in the Over Thirty-five Elite Basketball Competition saw the Bulls stop Belmopan Bandits 62-59 thanks to fifteen points from Brads Neal. Early Risers Wheels shut down Fayah Haat Carnation 57 to 41 with fourteen points from Ronald Reynolds, and Albert Hawks edge Kulture Builders 57 to 54 thanks to seventeen points from Vince the ?Rootman? Estrada.
On Friday night?s schedule Wheels will take on Bulls and Albers will go to work against Belmopan Bandits.
In cycling news yesterday?s fifty mile Mountain Bike race saw another sweep of the top five positions by Team Impossible is Nothing. Cebaldo Cowo took first place followed by Kirk Trapp, Paul Trapp, Terrell Ferguson and Smoke Gladden in that order. Dennis Molina of Santino?s rounds out the top six.
Hey folks, that?s our show for tonight. We certainly invite you back same time, same place next week. Jah, over all I?m James Adderley.
