Affif?s secretary charged w/ perjury
In other court news, acting on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions Kirk Anderson, this afternoon perjury charges were filed against Gabby Affif’s secretary Ursula Hill. Hill appeared before Magistrate Sharon Fraser this afternoon and was formally arraigned on one count of Contradicting Previous Evidence and one count of Fabrication of Evidence. The accused woman pleaded not guilty to both offences and was granted bail in the sum of six thousand dollars. The charges stem from Hill’s testimony in the crown’s case against Jabber “Gabby” Affif and Hassan El Sayed. Both men had been accused of forging official passport and nationality documents and Hill was a key witness in the case. El Sayed absconded local jurisdiction and Affif was found not guilty of the charges. But today, the police prosecutor told the court that Hill intended to pervert the course of justice by contradicting the evidence she gave to the Magistrate with what she testified during the Supreme Court proceedings. In the high court, Hill implicated herself of wrongdoing in the passport scandal but not her boss. The case against thirty-eight year old Hill has been adjourned until November twenty-first.
