Arrests made for AK-47, city shooting
Police have made arrests in connection with the seizure of an AK-47 assault rifle. Twenty-one year old Shane Matura has been charged with Keeping a Prohibited Weapon, which was found in his car Tuesday night by Corozal police. A subsequent search of Matura’s home resulted in the discovery of a magazine for the weapon and a quantity of narcotics. Matura, his forty-five year old mother Zenda Matura and a fifteen year old were all charged with Drug Trafficking and Keeping a Prohibited Firearm Component.
Also arrested today was seventeen year old Nelson Martinez. Martinez, of West Street in Belize City, has been charged with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, and Use of Deadly Means of Harm in connection with the Tuesday morning shooting of Denise Flowers near the Queen Square Market. One more suspect is still being sought.
