Woman bystander wounded as gunmen shoot at cops
A Belize City woman is lucky to be alive tonight after she was accidentally shot in the head. According to the police, around ten on Saturday night, a patrol spotted a grey S.U.V. in the area of Berkeley Street going the wrong way on a one way street. The officers tried to pull the vehicle over but the car sped off. Cops say during the chase they were fired upon by unknown shooters at the corner of George and Basra streets. None of the bullets found their mark but one did hit sixty-three year old Rosita Williams, who was in the area at the time, on the left side of the face. Williams was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment and after three days observation, was scheduled to be discharged today. Authorities are asking anyone with information on the shooting incident to please call the nearest police station.
