Fourteen year old escapee wounded by police bullet

He’s only a boy but Belmopan police say he’s a prime suspect in a number of burglaries in the capital city. So when fourteen year old Ian Albert Tun tried to escape from the police station, cops had to get him back behind bars. The official version of events is that shortly after four on Thursday, Tun was being transferred from one area of the building to another when he ran away. Officers say in the ensuing chase they fired several warning shots at the suspect. That pursuit ended when one of the police bullets allegedly ricocheted and hit Tun in the right arm. The injured youth was treated to the Western Regional Hospital and has since been remanded to Hattieville Prison until his next court date on the twenty-seventh of October. An internal police investigation has been ordered into the shooting.
