C.J. and six judges attend Guatemalan seminar
And rounding out the reports from the old capital courtrooms is word that today Chief Justice Abdulai Conteh, the three judges of the Supreme Court and six magistrates, three from the Family Court and three from Magistrate’s Court left Belize this morning en route to Flores, Peten in Guatemala. It is understood that the judges will participate in a judicial seminar with their Guatemalan counterparts as part of confidence building measures established between Belize and Guatemala, with oversight from the Organization of American States. The three day seminar is expected to end on Sunday. In September, Leader of the Opposition Dean Barrow also travelled to Guatemala under a similar initiative of the confidence building measures. Barrow spent the better part of a week fine-tuning his skills in Spanish.
