Hunting accident leaves one dead in Toledo
It’s a situation we’ve had to report too many times: a hunting trip that ends with one friend mistakenly shooting another. The latest incident took place two miles outside Santa Anna Village in the Toledo District around one thirty this morning. Twenty-six year old Dwayne Jacobs has reported to police that he, his uncle and two of their friends, went on a hunting expedition in the jungle. The group split into pairs. Jacobs says some time later he thought he spotted a deer and fired. But seconds after, his friend, thirty-four year old Francisco Rash, let out a scream. Rash was rushed to the Punta Gorda hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. He died later this morning. Dwayne Jacobs remains in police custody, pending charges.
