Well known criminal suspect gets whacked
Thirty-two year old Jerome Goff is no stranger to the police; in fact authorities say he was constantly in trouble with the law. But on Friday night Goff came under deadly attack as he sat in his car on Mahogany Street. Police say their investigations reveal that around eleven that night Goff was with two other persons inside the vehicle near the intersection with Zericote Street when a green car pulled up alongside them and one of its occupants opened fire. When police arrived on the scene they found Goff still in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He had been hit with four of the twelve bullets fired. In 1999 Goff was arrested and charged for the attempted murder of a U.B. student after the victim told police he had refused to buy Goff a bottle of stout. Then in 2003, Goff was again arrested and charged with attempted murder after police say he was one of three persons who fired shots at the chief magistrate’s house. Goff’s most recent brush with the law was five months ago. Once again he was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly opened fire on Assistant Superintendent of police Edward Broaster during a high speed chase. The police are asking the public for any information that will help them find Goff’s killers. Goff’s death, by our unofficial calculations, is the is the fifty-ninth murder for the year.
