More questions about death of Kevin Jex

Police ruled his death a suicide while family members call it a homicide. The death of sixteen year old Kevin Francis Jex continues to be contentious. Last week his uncle, Elton Jex, held a press conference at his home and called names of people he claims could help unravel the mystery. On that list… Charles Neal, also known as Justin, and someone known only as Kareem. On Tuesday News Five spoke with Justin who gave us second hand information of what happened on the night after his friend Kevin and Kareem robbed two people on Marine Parade. That robbery occurred on the night of Friday July twenty fourth and by Monday the twenty seventh, Kevin’s body was found hanging behind the B.T.I.A. building near the Memorial Park. Jex had come forward alleging that his nephew’s death was suspicious because he found out that one of the robbery victims was a police officer. But Justin told us that Kevin went to his house following the robbery and did not reveal anything about a police officer being the victim to them. He said Kevin took a cell phone for him to unlock, claiming that he had just gotten it when he jacked a girl. But tonight the other teen who admitted to us that he was Kevin’s accomplice, Kareem, came forward and told us that he later found out after the crime that they had indeed robbed a police officer. For fear of his own life, Kareem did not give us his last name or his address. He also did not grant us an on camera interview, but his account does re-establish motive for Kevin’s suspicious death. Kareem recounted what happened the night he and Kevin mugged the two people.

Since the police pathologist ruled that Kevin’s death was suicide caused by hanging, police have made public no other information in the case. Meanwhile, Elton Jex continues to vehemently refute the autopsy findings and has criticized the way in which it was conducted. Reports to News Five indicate that Kevin’s family is now trying to get a private pathologist to conduct a second autopsy and will seek permission to have the body exhumed for that process.
