Body found in yard: foul play or natural causes?
There was a minor commotion on Belize City’s Southside this afternoon following the discovery of a corpse. I reached the scene as police were trying to figure out whether it was a case of foul play or natural causes.
Jacqueline Godwin, Reporting
This evening Belize City police were called out to a residence at number 6741 Raccoon Street Extension. There in the yard lay the dead body of a man identified as Roger Willoughby. Willoughby?s cart was parked nearby on the street. According to residents he had been selling fast food most of the day so they are shocked to hear about his sudden demise.
Lornamae Hoare says she was home sometime after two this afternoon when Willoughby pulled up with the cart and went to the back of the residence presumably to relieve himself. But when he did not return some ten minutes later she went to find out what was the problem. That?s when she saw him lying on the ground apparently dead.
Jacqueline Godwin
?And he spoke to you? Did he say good afternoon when he came by the house??
Lornamae Hoare, Eyewitness
?No. He just parked the cart and went straight to the back of the yard.?
Jacqueline Godwin
?And you became concerned??
Lornamae Hoare
?Yes because it?s my yard.?
Keith Swift, Channel Seven
?Did he look in anyway sick or anything like that??
Lornamae Hoare
?I don?t know anything sweetie?
As the police did their preliminary investigation a somber James Lemoth was called to the scene to identify his brother. Lemoth says the last time he saw Willoughby was just this past weekend and he appeared to be well.
Jacqueline Godwin
?Was he sick or natural causes??
James Lemoth, Brother of the Deceased
?No, healthy rastaman.?
Jacqueline Godwin
?Because his friend was telling me that just this morning he was out there with his cart.?
James Lemoth
?Yeah he was doing a thing. He was alright and that?s all I know.?
Keith Swift
?When was the last time you saw him alive??
James Lemoth
?Sunday and he was in appropriate order, you know.?
A post mortem is scheduled for Friday.
