…while Lifeline Foundation helps Queen Square
Not far away another southside school found itself on the receiving end of a food related donation. News Five’s Janelle Chanona was on hand.

This morning the Lifeline Foundation officially handed over twelve thousand fifty six dollars and twenty five cents, a third the proceeds of a fundraising drive held earlier this year, to the students of the Queen Square Anglican Primary School.
According to Principal Nelma Mortis, the money will be used in the school?s feeding program.

?Why I intend to use it for breakfast is that I think that breakfast is the most and it?s not only that I think, but research has shown that it is the most important meal for the day. And we want our students to learn so breakfast will come a long way for the ones we are catering to.?

?The message is that we all need to get involved. It?s sad that we see these kids all over the place begging for money, begging for books and we talk about it but we don?t do anything.?
Lifeline founder and director Kim Simpliss today called for support for similar community initiatives.

?We are starting with the children who are going to school because at least they are showing an effort that they are going to school and that they want to go to school. So it?s very important that we as a community get involved and try to do something to try to make a difference in these children?s lives.?
Nelma Mortis
?We would like fruits, vegetables–my parents, I would like to appeal to them to come out and assist. Some of them might not come as often or regular but by seeing this maybe they could give their volunteer service. I know a lot of them stay home, maybe they could come and assist us.?

The next scheduled Lifeline Foundation fundraiser is a Martini Masquerade in October.
