Bzean. band makes mark on Mexican stage

Over the years a number of Belizean musicians have taken their acts on the road, trying to make a mark on the international scene. In an effort to do just that, last month the little known Kenyatta Band, at the invitation of the Mexican Institute of Culture, travelled to Veracruz, Mexico, to perform at the Afro Caribbean Festival. According to James Sanker of the Belize Music Agency, their blend of reggae jazz blues Latin music was a hit as they were asked to do an encore in neighbouring Papantla. The Kenyatta Band is led by main vocalists Leslie Jenkins and Tanya Carter and were accompanied in Mexico by members of the New Generation Dance Group.
