D.F.C. public hearings postponed until October

Story PictureScheduled public hearings by the Commission of Inquiry investigating the Development Finance Corporation have been postponed until October. Two more sessions were to be held this week before a month long break in September, but according to Chairman David Price, “circumstances beyond the commission’s control” have caused the change in plans. Among the expected witnesses this week was former D.F.C. Chief Executive Officer Roberto Bautista. So far, fourteen employees and former employees have appeared before the commission. The disturbing trend emerging from their testimonies is a long list of irregularities and breach of proper protocols for a select group of politically connected borrowers. The tentative date for the resumption of the hearings is October third.
