Corozal resident charged for gun in parcel post
People send weird things in the mail everyday but tonight one man is behind bars because someone mailed him a gun. On Thursday, sixty-six year old Roland Flam showed up to collect a parcel at the Corozal Post Office. As part of the procedure, Flam had to open the box in the presence of an employee who would evaluate the contents. On the declaration form, the sender had written “vehicle parts” but when Flam opened the cardboard box, lying among some bearings was a gun case with a nine millimetre pistol inside. Flam and the mailman immediately went to the police station to report the matter. Apparently, Flam had bought the weapon in the United States but returned it because of a defect. The factory sent the new gun to his daughter in the U.S. by mail and she thought it would be okay to post the weapon to Belize. It’s not. Flam has since been charged for the crime of Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm.
