Big money in B.D.F. running festival

Haul out your most comfortable shoes because come this Saturday, the Belize Defence Force will be hosting its fourth annual Running Festival. And according to race coordinator Major Oscar Mira, with twenty-five thousand dollars in prize money, there’s good reason to participate.

?It?s our annual B.D.F. Sports Day, but we are starting off with our running festival, which will be taking place on the twenty-sixth of August. This Saturday starting at zero five hundred hours we have a full marathon. We also have the Henry Usher half marathon. We have a ten kilometer race and a five kilometer race. This is all to have the public engage in something healthy you know. Healthy living and encouraging people to go out there and get fit, and to run.?

?Yes. It?s open to anybody who?s interested in running. We have prizes for the first place and it goes all the way to a thousand dollars for first place on the full marathon, up to tenth place. And on the half marathon we have prizes from first to fifth. Also on the ten kilometer and the five kilometer races.?
