G.S.T. refunds on light bills still not ready

Consumers who have just received their July light bills may be disappointed to discover that those promised refunds on June G.S.T. payments have yet to appear. News Five contacted B.E.L. to see what was the problem and we were informed that while the government and B.E.L. came to an agreement that the June G.S.T. would be returned to customers, there was no commitment to a timeline. A B.E.L. spokesman explained that the re-programming of the computer software is somewhat complex and the programme must be tested before any credits are processed. The company did not offer a date for initiation of the refunds other than “as soon as possible.”
