Prisoner stabbed behind bars
Menjivar’s month long stint behind bars was without incident. However, two inmates at the Belize Central Prison have been treated and released after they were stabbed during altercations at the facility. On Monday, Domingo Chiquin, who is serving five years for robbery, was stabbed in the upper back in Tango three. He was taken to the KHMH for treatment and then returned to the prison. Then on Wednesday, in what is believed to be retaliation for Monday’s stabbing, Pedro Pech was sliced with a razor. It was a superficial injury and Pech, who is serving seven years for robbery, was also treated and released. Both incidents have been reported to the Police, but unless the inmates chose to press charges, no further action is taken.
