Two bodies recovered in separate accidents at sea
The luck of fishermen has not been good this week as two men have drowned while on separate fishing trips. Reports are that twenty-two year old Denver Gomez of Forest Home left Punta Gorda with two other men on Monday morning to go fishing. According to his companions, sometime around two that afternoon their eighteen foot dorey capsized. And while they were able to make it to shore, Gomez, who couldn’t swim, was left clinging to a five gallon plastic container. He drowned before he could be rescued. Punta Gorda cops today pulled Gomez’s body from the water and transported it to the Punta Gorda Hospital for a post mortem. Meanwhile in San Pedro, the body of thirty-four year old boat captain, Isaul Coba, was recovered this morning. Coba had been missing since Tuesday when he, along with four other men, left San Pedro en route to the reef. According to police, Coba jumped out of the boat to secure the anchor but never resurfaced. The victim’s body has since been transported to the K.H.M.H.
