One dead, one injured in chopping assault

A suspect is in police detention following a chopping incident that has left one man dead and another hospitalised. According to police reports, twenty-four year old Marvin Ramirez of Blackman Eddy was at home with his wife and his friend, Hipolito Choco, on Tuesday night when around eleven a man wielding a machete entered the house. While Ramirez’s wife was able to escape unscathed, the men weren’t so lucky. Choco received two fatal chop wounds to the head, while Ramirez sustained injuries to his arms and stomach and remains hospitalised at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. Police have detained one suspect and are looking for the motive behind the attack.
