Museum nurtures young artists

On yesterday’s newscast we looked at happenings at the Bliss. Today we discover that when it comes to the summer art scene, there’s a whole lot going on in many different places. News Five’s Alyssa Noble reports from the Museum of Belize.

According to the programme?s coordinator, Colonel Parks, the young participants were exposed to more advanced art media even though the kids are just beginners.

?We tried to be a bit more interactive with them as to what exercises we chose in exercises for them to do. We had our spray paint design, ink design, charcoal, art novel, acrylics, messed with paint, pencil drawing and coloured pencil drawing. That sort of things, apart from the little craft work that we did as well.?

An though the skills of the participants varied greatly, that didn?t stop anyone from having a good time.

?I found it very fun and you learn a lot. It helps you to express yourself more. Instead of just going outside and playing something you can come here and enjoy yourself painting.?

?Everyone should come to the museum of Belize because it?s really fun. Everyone should like it and they will like it. It may seem a little hard in the drawing but when you get use to it then you?ll draw easier. And when you leave you?ll have a smile on your face and good talents.?

The programme restarts on September fourth as an after school programme at a fee of a dollar a day.
